Some web browsers may cut-off the filename during download. All Unix filenames in this collection end in "tar.Z". This indicates that these are Unix compressed tar files. If the name of the file does not end in this way then rename it to do so. Once renamed, you can uncompress and un-tar the file to recreate the source code directory. Here is an example:
1) mv xxx-tar xxx-tar.Z
2) uncompress xxx-tar.Z
3) tar xvf xxx-tar
Or if you own a copy of CyberSoft's UAD you can enter the command:
1) UAD -F xxx-tar

Double Speed Data Dumper (small size)
Just like the Unix "dd" command but much faster. Just the thing for high speed disk image backups to tape/network. Can be used with VFind (-stdin) option for fast scans of tape/floppy. The author states that the program won't work in the United States but we don't believe him. Filename: ddd.tar.Z
GNU Find Utilities (small size)
This is the GNU find utility. It is not only better then the find utility that comes with most Unix systems but it has been stable for more years than most current releases of Unix have existed. It comes in source, is free to use and runs on almost every Unix system. We recommend it.
